WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

Sessions Summary

The 6 speakers, all well-respected in their various sectors, shared vast knowledge that benefitted the content creators.
Philippe Bresson, an award-winning film maker, shared practical strategies on how to go from idea to visual execution when creating content. These included brainstorming and choosing ideas, creating storyboards, choosing the right software and hardware, and technical considerations when filming.
Azziad Nasenya and our surprise guest, Crazy Kennar, spoke on how their minds and moods influence their productivity when creating their respective contents. There was emphasis on each creator focusing on their path and not comparing their growth with others. The message was that everyone is unique, it is okay to take breaks, and it is important to have a grand plan, but celebrate every small step you take towards it.
Amos Ngahu (of Money Clinic and Money Gossip) and Just Ivy Africa shared tips on monetizing social media content and how to use content creation for financial freedom. There was an interesting discussion on rate cards, how to get brands on board, and how to make sure that money lasts in between jobs.
Peter Kawa (Talent Manager) and Advocate Gertrude Kibare had an enlightening engagement about the value of a talent manager to content creators and the legal requirements needed to support their craft. Content creators gained knowledge on what to look out for before signing contracts, the benefit of having a management and legal team, and how to protect their intellectual property.

The workshop was hosted by MC Nyokabi Macharia and moderated by Mary Irungu.
